The new design culminated in the following goals:
Simplify the homepage while maintaining aesthetics suitable as a major marketing
presence for the City
Simplify navigation on the homepage to facilitate ease in finding information deeper
in the site
Eliminate scrolling as much as possible on the homepage
Give homepage status for the most visited information based on website statistics
Simplify the calendar tool – eliminate separate departmental calendars
Make the search tool more prominent on the home page
Simplify and consolidate department menus and pages to assist the website user in
finding their information quicker
Add social networking tools to attract and interest a more diverse group of residents
to what is occurring in the City
The new website design will occupy more of the screen. The new web-site will go live in
March.
IT is working with LaserFishe, who publishes all of the City’s documents on the web-site,
trying to make it more user friendly. Ms. Meine welcomes all photos with permission for
possible use on the web-site.
Mr. Glickert thought it would be nice to have pictures of the Directors and Chiefs with a
mission statement for each department. Ms. Meine state that none of the content has
been changed with this new design but can be worked on later.
QUESTIONS ON THE UPCOMING AGENDA
Mr. Glickert asked if number 9 on the City Manager’s Report belong there.
