The project was a part of her
work through her local Girl Scout chapter. Ameila prepared the ground and built three
raised planting beds. The garden is fenced as well. She is also providing gardening
tools and seeds to the neighbors for spring planting. The neighbors on Bartmer are
excited about the project and we look forward to the garden's opening when the weather
turns warmer. This community garden adds to the City's interest in "greening" the 6600
block of Bartmer and Crest.
U Helps U
Some advertisement and fundraising ideas emerged for the program and will
continue to be developed over the coming weeks. The person can write their name on a little house cutout
and have it hung on the wall , a program used by many other fundraisers,
however, since the U HELPS U fund is not tax deductible this encourages small
donations so people are more likely to participate.
Loop/Olive Business Change Buckets
Participating with the Loop Business District and the Olive businesses we hope
to have change containers on store counters enabling patrons to donate their
spare change to support the program.
compact
AmerenUE’s Residential Energy Efficiency Department is launching a
fluorescent light (CFL) bulb recycling program
to make disposing of CFL bulbs
easier for UE customers.
