Mr. Price stated <br />at the last Council meeting he asked to have $50,000 added to the home improvement <br />program. He noticed in the report that he just received that over fifty people are back- <br />logged with requests and the City receives five new inquiries a week on the program. Mr. <br />Walker stated that certainly additional funds would assist residents with the upkeep of their <br />homes as we do have a large waiting list. Mr. Price asked if the City added additional funds <br />if the county would also add more funds and Mr. Walker said they would not. Mayor <br />Adams told Mr. Price to prepare information for the Council as to what line item he would <br />want to reduce in order to increase the Home Improvement line item. Then it can be <br />discussed at a Council meeting. Mr. Price asked the City Manager to make this an agenda <br />item for the next Council meeting and to send the Council the current allocations of the <br />CDBG fund and he will send the Council what his suggestions are prior to the meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked Mr. Walker what happens when an inspector gives a list of what needs to <br />be corrected to be brought up to code and they cannot afford to do it. Mr. Walker said they <br />would provide them with the information for the Home Improvement program and provide <br />extensions and encourage them to work on their property over the extended period of time. <br />The Community Development Department does expect them to make some progress over <br />this extension. Mr. Walker stated that they also provide names of other organizations that <br />might be able to help them. The last resort is going to housing court. Mr. Walker stated that <br />many on the housing court docket are not the Seniors but are rental property owners. <br /> <br /> <br />J. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />BILLS <br />1. <br />BILL 9052 - An ordinance amending Chapter 34 of the Municipal Code of the City of <br />University City, Missouri, relating to zoning districts established pursuant to section 34-22 <br />thereof, and enacting in lieu thereof a new official zoning map, thereby amending said map <br />so as to change the classification of properties located within the city limits of University City <br />at 547 North and South Road and 551 North and South Road from "LR" – limited residential <br />district, to "LC" – limited commercial; containing a savings clause and providing a penalty <br /> <br />Bill 9052 was postponed till the December 7, 2009, Council Session. <br /> <br />
