Kenny Williams, 7018 Dartmouth <br />Mr. Williams was present to support the Youth Job Corp program as he thinks the kids of <br />University City are lost and felt that if the program was supported, the kids could get some <br />kind of responsibility and do something with themselves. <br /> <br />Anthony Henry, 7544 Carleton Ave. <br />Mr. Henry was present to support the Youth Job Corp program as it will give the students at <br />University City more responsibility and build a better person. <br /> <br />Jamal Plair, 1540 Jackson Ave. <br />Mr. Plair was present to support the Youth Job Corp program as he would want a job. <br /> <br />Cameron Reed, 3442 Fairview <br />Mr. Reed was present to support the Youth Job Corp program as he thought it would give <br />them some vocational skills and keep them off the streets. <br /> <br />Nelson Atkins, 7069 Corbitt <br />Mr. Atkins asked that the teenagers be given the opportunity to work for the community they <br />love. He stated that many just want a chance to work. <br /> <br />th <br />Emmanuel Price, 1520 78 Street <br />Mr. Price stated that many students his age just want an opportunity to gain work <br />experience. He noted that he currently has a 3.75 GPA, is member of the track and the <br />swim team. Mr. Price stated there are some teenagers that are not willing to work hard but <br />he noted that there are some that are ready to work hard. He asked to give those who are <br />willing to work hard, to gain experience in their community. <br /> <br />Richard Dockett, 6844 Crest Ave. <br />Mr. Dockett was present to support the Youth Job program. He stated that the situation is <br />where U City High School has a 90 percent black student body and University City is <br />growing more African Americans. He said that he is calling exception to some person <br />saying that Mr. Price is calling him a racist which he said did not occur. <br /> <br />Ferron Toliver, 7839 Amherst <br />Mr. Toliver was present to support the Youth Job Corp program. And wanted to prove the <br />he and his peers are ready to work and work now. <br /> <br />Christopher Hughes, 1523 Mendell <br />Mr. Hughes stated he was present to explain why U City should provide a job program to <br />hire teenagers. He stated a job would help teenagers to learn how to provide for <br />themselves and educate them to the real world. He said there is nothing to do in U City <br />except to hang around on the corners and neither he nor his parents want that. <br /> <br />Robert Davoli, 7378 Milan Ave <br />Mr. Davoli handed the City Clerk a proposal to pass out to the Council, which is attached at <br />the end of the minutes. He believed the combination of two programs of Home <br />Improvement and Job Corp would work better and would not come back year after year for <br />funding. He noted that he is opposed to using reserve money for a one-time cost for the <br />Job Corp proposal and which does not benefit all residents. Mr. Davoli felt Federal funding <br />through not-for-profit agencies should be researched and where businesses can donate to <br /> <br /> 4 <br /> <br />
