March 2010 <br />MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT <br />PREAMBLE <br />This MEMORANDUM with the City of University City, hereinafter referred to as the <br />Employer, and Local 2665, International Association of Firefighters, hereafter known as the <br />Union, is as follows: <br />It is the purpose of this Memorandum to achieve and maintain harmonious relations <br />between the Employer and employees and their Union; to reflect our discussion of equitable and <br />peaceful adjustment of differences which may arise, wages, hours, and other conditions of <br />employment for the members of the Union employed by the Employer. <br />The City of University City recognizes that our Fire Department is the busiest <br />municipalities in the area. More importantly, the members provide our residents the highest <br />quality paramedic and fire services. The City will therefore continue to provide highly <br />competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with our financial and budgetary <br />th <br />resources. The goal remains to be well above the 20 percentile of municipal departments. <br />This Memorandum embodies the full extent of the agreement and the discussion between <br />the City of University City (Employer), and Local Union 2665, IAFF (Union). <br />Article I: RECOGNITION <br />The Union, Local 2665, is the exclusive collective bargaining representative for all <br />employees of the University City Fire Department holding the rank of Firefighter, Paramedic <br />Firefighter, or Paramedic Fire Captain as provided by the State Board of Mediation on June 4, <br />1981. <br />Article II: DISCRIMINATION <br />The employer and the Union agree to abide by the non-discrimination provisions of the <br />law. <br />Article III: UNION BUSINESS <br />Any Firefighter, Paramedic Firefighter, or Paramedic Fire Captain, from the U.C.F.D. <br />who is elected to Local 2665 Executive Office (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, <br />Sergeant at Arms) may be granted time off, at no cost to the City to perform Local 2665 Union <br />business, provided the Firefighter, Paramedic Firefighter, Paramedic Fire Captain, has the <br />written permission of the Fire Chief, and no equipment is taken out of service. <br />Any officer of the Union shall also be allowed to trade time with other members of the <br />2 <br /> <br />
