<br />AGENDA ITEM NO.2 - Tree Ordinance <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff wanted to briefly explain the tree bill that would be introduced as a bill later <br />in the meeting. He said this bill would expand the City's authority over trees on public <br />property and will provide extensive city oversight over certain large private property trees. <br />It was approved by the Plan and Park commissions. There will be a public hearing on <br />August 28, 2006, (note: The Public Hearing will be held August 28th to allow enough time <br />to introduce it to the publ ic.) <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Jon Galloway, 715 Limit Ave #1 N <br />Mr. Galloway would like to see planting other than grass on the strips on 739 Heman Ave, <br />and Vernon. He felt that although, it was a complex ordinance, he did not see safety <br />mentioned anywhere. He felt that trees should be planted in planting strips for the safety <br />of people walking on the sidewalks. He also suggested having a revolving fund for <br />property owners for assistance in tree removal since this has become an expensive <br />undertaking. <br /> <br />Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel <br />Ms. Glickert asked if someone was following up with Ameren UE as they trimmed trees <br />around their lines. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM NO.3 - Public Hearing on Right-of-Way Vacating <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING was opened at 7:08 p.m. <br />A Public Hearing for the vacating of Right-of-Way on vacating a vacant lot adjacent to <br />Trenton at 78th Street was opened at 7:08 and closed at 7: 1 0 with no one present to <br />speak. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff said the City only had 100 feet which was sandwiched in between parcels of <br />land not owned by City. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM NO.4 - Liquor License 6608-A Delmar. This establishment will be <br />known as Twisted Olive. <br /> <br />Ms. Brot asked Mr. Ollendorff if the plan submitted said that they would have more than 50 <br />percent of overall sales be from the sale of food. She also asked how this was monitored. <br />Ms. Oriel Lesmeister, the owner, was present and assured that more than 50% of sales <br />would be from food. She listed some of the menu items and offered to send the menu to <br />Council <br /> <br />CITIZENS COMMENTS: non-agenda items <br />Betty Smith, 1357 North & South <br />Ms. Smith inquired as to what was being constructed on the corner of North & South at <br />Olive. Mr. Ollendorff told her it was to be a new Aldi's grocery store. <br /> <br />Jacqueline Parker, 7738 Canton Ave <br />Ms. Parker asked if the police could patrol 7700 Canton - 82nd Street for excessive speed. <br />
