APPOINTMENTS

F. SWEARING IN

G. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION (Total of 15 minutes allowed)

Richard Dockett, 6844 Crest Ave
Mr. Dockett thanked Council for their choice of hiring Lehman Walker as the City’s City
Manager and knew they would be happy with their choice. He also thanked City Manager
Lehman Walker, Mayor Shelley Welsch and everyone who showed him sympathy on the death
of his sister.

Tom Sullivan, 758 Kingsland
Mr. Sullivan again questioned the process in which the City Manager was hired. He felt when
the announcement was made the newspaper, the City would receive applications from
interested individuals. Secondly Mr. Sullivan questioned whether the Council did not have any
discussion on the City Manager selection from the time of Ms. Feier’s resignation to the time a
decision was made to asked Mr. Lehman of his interest in becoming the City Manager. Ms.
Ricci replied that the Council was working with a subcommittee of Mr. Sharpe, Mayor Welsch
and herself. Their plan was to identify search firms and ask if they do the whole job, do we do
part of the job and you do part of the job, or do you think we as City Council could do the job.
The committee narrowed it down to three search firms; made reference calls; then on June 28
we had the vote of the search firm we intended on retaining to ask those questions. Mayor
Welsch verified that the City had only received an resume from Lehman Walker.

1
