The Police Department has conducted an
investigation into the harassing letters and other acts of vandalism, which have
resulted in the identification of two suspects. Information was received from an
associate of the two young men, who are seventeen and sixteen years of age
respectively. The informant gave relevant information to a Family Court staff
member regarding statements made by the sixteen year old bragging about
placing letters on various cars in the neighborhood as a "prank." These
statements were made to the informant on June 7, 2006 the very day the letters
were discovered. Follow up investigation by three detectives was intense and
immediate. The sixteen year old suspect, a juvenile by State Law, invoked his
constitutional rights and refused an interview after obtaining counsel. The
seventeen year old firmly denied any participation, which was later confirmed by
polygraph examination. All evidence was scientifically processed without
revealing any evidence to connect either suspect. However, with the
incriminating information furnished by the informant/witness, the case against the
juvenile was referred to the Family Court for review. There is insufficient
evidence at this juncture to charge the adult. We have exhausted all avenues
but remain confident that the juvenile is involved in the offenses. I have notified
all individuals who requested follow up from the neighborhood.

Sid
In response to your request to honor long-time resident and citizen advocate
Schneider, on August 14,
you will be presented with a Proclamation to
establish Sid Schneider Day. We are gathering donations to install a marble
bench at the Heman Community Center. The Parks Department is working on a
