<br /> <br /> <br /> SESSION 1315 <br /> <br /> <br /> ' MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> September 20, 1982 <br /> <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City, held in the Assembly <br /> Room of the City Hall on Monday, September 20, 1982, Mayor Joseph W. Mooney presid- <br /> ed and called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the fol- <br /> lowing members of the Council were present: <br /> <br /> Mr. Lawrence Lieberman <br /> Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br /> Mrs. Cynthia Metcalfe <br /> Mr. Marvin B. Levy <br /> Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br /> Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br /> Also present were City Manager Frank Ollendorff and City Attorney Dennis Kay. <br /> i <br /> AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE VISITING STUDENTS <br /> Mayor Mooney welcomed the two foreign students who are living with families in Uni- <br /> versity City under the auspices of the American Field Service. They are Belen Goy <br /> ache from Spain, living with the Levine family, and Lisa Turner from England, living <br /> with the Karsh family. The girls were given park passes for all University City <br /> recreational facilities. <br /> DISTINGUISHED GUESTS <br /> <br /> Mayor Mooney said there were several distinguished guests attending the Council <br /> meeting--former City Manager.Charles Henry, the mother of Councilmember Adams, and <br /> former Councilmember Elsie Glickert. He asked them to stand and be recognized. <br /> SLIDE SHOW - URBAN RENEWAL <br /> <br /> Mr. Charles Henry, who was city manager in University City for 16 years, had pre- <br /> pared a slide show which portrayed the changes which were made in University Ciry <br /> during Mr. Henry's tenure. There were a great many urban renewal projects and many <br /> physical improvements during that time. The Mayor called a recess while Mr. Henry <br /> showed the slides. <br /> Mr. Henry remarked that the slides had been shown many times before, but he did not <br /> think they had ever been shown at a Council meeting. The show was a graphic display <br /> of the changes which took place during a critical period in University City's his- <br /> tory, and demonstrated how the City worked to keep the area a viable and attractive <br /> place to live. <br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> <br /> I July 12, 1982 <br /> Mr. Adams moved that the minutes of July 12, 1982 be approved as received. Mr. Levy <br /> seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br />
