Session 1315, Minutes Page 17
September 20, 1982

Mr. Schoomer moved to postpone consideration of this matter and that a date for a
public hearing be set. Mrs. Thompson seconded the motion, which carried unanimous-
ly. The public hearing was set for Monday, October 11, 1982 at 8:00 p.m.
MISCELLANEOUS

Mayor Mooney asked that a bill be prepared on the improvement of Gay Avenue, with
the understanding that it be flexible enough so that alterations may be made to con-
form with recommended engineering or other changes.
Mr. Lieberman said congratulations were in order for Mr. Ollendorff for the imple-
mentation of the Council's suggestion that the Community News be published jointly
by the City and School District. Mr. Ollendorff said the first combined issue will
be mailed about mid-October, and he noted that a name for the paper has not yet
been selected.
There was brief discussion concerning the setting of an informal meeting of the
Council and City Manager in order to discuss strategy concerning the only City is-
sue on the ballot (the revising of refuse rates) at the election November 2. Mr.
Ollendorff said he would telephone the Council during the week to see if such a
meeting could be arranged, and if so, the public would be notified.

Mr. Lieberman said he'd like to again remind the Council of the very important Con-
stitutional issues on the November ballot. Both Mr. Ollendorff and Mr. Lieberman
felt the Council should take a position of support on Constitutional Amendment No.
11 and Proposition B. Mr. Lieberman moved that the Council go on record in support
of those two measures, and that the community be urged to support them, also. Mr.
Adams seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
Mr. Adams said only one councilmember had responded to the memorandum from the Uni-
versity City Beautification Committee. He noted that the final report of this
Council subcommittee had been sent to councilmembers, and he requested a response
from them.
ADJOURNMENT

Mrs. Metcalfe moved that the meeting be adjourned. Mr. Levy seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously. Mayor Mooney adjourned the meeting at 10:55 p.m.

Dolores A.
