<br /> 1 /5* <br /> <br /> <br /> SESSION 1309 <br /> <br /> <br /> MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> June 7, 1982 <br /> <br /> <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City, held in the Assembly <br /> Room of the City Hall on Monday, June 7, 1982, Mayor Joseph W. Mooney presided and <br /> called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following <br /> members of the Council were present: <br /> Mr. Lawrence Lieberman* <br /> Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br /> Mrs. Cynthia Metcalfe <br /> Mr. Marvin B. Levy <br /> Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br /> Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br /> Also present were City Manager Frank Ollendorff and City Attorney Dennis Kay.** <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> May 10, 1982 <br /> <br /> Mr. Schoomer moved that the minutes of May 10, 1982 be approved as received. Mr. <br /> Levy seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> May 17, 1982 <br /> <br /> Mr. Adams moved that the minutes of May 17, 1982 be approved as received. Mr. <br /> Schoomer seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> TRIBUTE TO DR. MAGNESS <br /> Mayor Mooney said the City suffered a great loss with the death of Dr. Guy Magness, <br /> who served University City as Director of the Board of Health since 1952, and as <br /> Director of School Health Services since 1931. The Mayor said Dr. Magness gave un- <br /> selfishly of his time to all, was very much admired and will be greatly missed by <br /> those who knew him. <br /> OATH OF OFFICE <br /> <br /> Mrs. Mary Watson, 1338 Rushmore, recently appointed to the Park Commission by the <br /> Council, was sworn in by the City Clerk. Mayor Mooney thanked Mrs. Watson, noting <br /> that the City depends greatly on volunteer services, and was much indebted to those <br /> who give so freely of their time. <br /> <br /> *Mr. Lieberman arrived at the meeting at 7:36 p.m. <br /> CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> <br /> t Mr. Bernard Susman, 712 Brittany Lane, asked to address the Council. Mr. Susman <br /> said he appeared before the Council six weeks ago concerning the condition of Gay <br /> Avenue at its intersection with Gannon. He said that the street has since been re- <br />
