Two day community carnival on Memorial Day weekend, 2011. A citizens’ volunteer
group is putting this together and if anyone is interested in being involved please let
her know.

Task force meeting for senior and youth and bike walk task forces will be held
throughout the year. If anyone is interested in them, let the Mayor or
Councilmember know and she will let you know when they are meeting.

Ms. Sobotka noted that at University City High School there is a Peace Committee she
said could be partnered with the committee to discuss violence with youth.

Mayor Welsch said piggy-backing on to that, there is a group formed by Jami Cox, formerly
at Jackson Park, now at Cardinal Ritter. She spoke about a youth leadership board. They
are moving forward with that effort calling it University City Youth Society, UCYS. They are
looking for adult mentors as they move forward. This is totally a youth effort, youth
working with youth. One of their goals is to help ease the tension among young people of
our community that go to different schools.

Mr. Sharpe moved to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. and the motion carried unanimously.

Joyce Pumm
City Clerk

11
