BILLS

O. CITIZEN COMMENTS

P. COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mr. Glickert agreed with Mr. Docket that University City has an excellent Fire Department and
was glad that he is well. He also noted that he has received calls all favorable for the good job
of snow removal accomplished by the City workers. Mr. Glickert asked how the City stands on
salt supply. Mr. Walker stated that the City will be able to continue to serve their residents.

Mr. Crow asked the City Manager to get back to him with the April 25 Council meeting if it
conflicts with Passover or not. Next he would like to know how the calendar issue was
resolved. Mr. Crow also asked where the City is in regard to the Park Grant funds and when it
will be addressed.

Mayor Welsch noted the email sent to Council on paperwork concerning Delmar Blvd. The St.
Louis County of Public Works is recommending that the County give the City of University City,
Delmar Blvd. running from Big Bend Blvd to the eastern City Limits. Mayor said If this would
happen University City would be responsible for all of the maintenance and upkeep of this
heavily traveled road. The City Manager had staff write a letter to the County saying that we
would prefer not to do this. Staff has also developed a detail on the cost that the City will incur
in taking this over, as it has not been maintained well. Mayor Welsch also asked the City
Manager to ask the City Attorney to see if the City has any options in this case. She personally
is calling each member of the County Council to convey her thoughts on this issue. Ms. Welsch
suggested that other members of the City Council might do the same.

Mr. Sharpe asked if the City had any choice in the matter and if so, he suggested to go in mass
to the County Council meeting.

Mayor Welsch noted the explanation given to the City is that the County no longer considers
this a arterial road but rather as a road servicing University City businesses.

Mr. Sharpe moved to adjourn at 8:47 p.m. and the motion carried unanimously.

Joyce Pumm,
City Clerk

14
