Minutes of the CALOP Board meeting
March 16, 2006

The meeting convened at 6:10 p.m. at the offices of Cable Tec, 8390 Delmar. In
attendance were Dennis Riggs, Cameron Sanders, Jim Kirchherr, Jon Galloway,
Eleanor Mullin, Karol Walters, Shelley Welsch.

DISCUSSION OF MINUTES: Dennis moved we accept the amended January
25, 2006 minutes, Jon seconded, approved by acclamation. Jim moved we
accept the amended February 6, 2006 minutes, Jon seconded, approved by
acclamation.

REMARKS ABOUT MOVIE PREMIERE: The event went very well, about 300 in
attendance. The projector did not do justice to the quality of the film--color
washed out. Shelley reported getting several calls saying the first 60 years of the
century were very well done, but the 'migrations' and tensions of the next 40 not
covered very well. Jim pointed out that this time frame can still be considered
'current events'. We would entertain proposals for a film that centers on the 70's
and 80's.

GRANT PROPOSAL: Rebecca Rivas, who was locked out of the building and
missed her appointment at the last meeting, was invited and appeared tonight.
Her background is U of MO J school. Her project centers on refugee teenagers
who are war survivors, and are currently being helped through discussions and
theatrical performances at a center in South City. Jim asked if her project needed
to cover a whole year, why not just the process of doing one show. She is
agreeable to that, but wants to give video cams to a few of the teens to film their
home lives. Dennis asked about the use of a narrator for the film. She
thinks one of the specialists at the center could do this. Jim asked if she was
willing to show negative results, and she said yes, she will show one teen who
was not helped by program. She can also borrow some footage taken in Sierra
Leone. Eleanor moved we grant her $8000.00, Jim seconded, approved by
acclamation.

TREASURER'S REPORT: no report was made as Ed Nickels is out of town.

MARKETING REPORT: Jon wants to do a press release, and would like to set
up a newsletter on email.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: We feel we need to fill this position, so there is one
