Treasurer’s Report <br />Mr. Freidman pointed out that the financial reports for February and March were provided in <br />the commission meeting packet. There were no questions regarding the financial reports, <br />however, discussion was held about notification to grantees that have not completed <br />projects as required. Mr. Nickels informed the commission that letters were sent to two <br />grantees, but no response was received. A notice to withdraw funding and demand for <br />repayment will be sent to these individuals. The commission also discussed the feasibility of <br />pursuing legal action in these cases. <br /> <br />Mr. Friedman asked that Ms. Lay contact Charter Communications to find out when the next <br />payment will be made to CALOP and to request timely payment. Mr. Friedman will prepare a <br />letter to Charter requesting that payments be received sooner. <br /> <br />Update on All Grant Programs <br />Knock, Knock America: Mr. Nickels reported that Rebecca Rivas turned in the completed <br />film, which Mr. Riggs will review. <br /> <br />St. Benedict’s Rule: Ms. Mullin reported that filmmaker Jay Kanzler completed filming and <br />was in the editing process. Ms. Mullin will invite him to give a progress report at the next <br />commission meeting. <br /> <br />Hidden Children of the Holocaust: Ms. Creer reported that filmmaker Liz Lippa sent in a <br />report on her progress and requested the second payment installment. Ms. Lippa must send <br />in an invoice to request payment. <br /> <br />Oral History Project: Mr. Nickels reported that the tapes are in. Mr. Nickels relayed to the <br />commission that he had received permission to use space in the Library as archival storage; <br />the commission would have to provide a secured cabinet. Mr. Nickels also reported that he <br />asked Sue Racoff (Historical Society) to assist with the archival project. Mr. Friedman <br />informed the commission that Washington University has an archive that the commission <br />could visit. Mr. Friedman will arrange for the commission to take a tour. <br /> <br />The commission set its next meeting for Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.; grant <br />interviews will begin at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Friedman asked Ms. Lay to report on her activities. Ms. Lay reported that she had <br />updated the CALOP web page to include the list of commission members; CALOP has also <br />been added to the City’s “Notify Me” web feature which allows individuals to sign up and <br />automatically receive CALOP news and announcements. Ms. Lay also reported that she <br />received permission from the Regional Arts Commission and Missouri Arts Council to provide <br />a link to their websites on CALOP web pages. Ms. Lay relayed that she was researching <br />other grant organization’s application process for ideas to improve CALOP’s process. <br /> <br />Old Business <br />The commission observed the thank you letter sent to former CALOP member Jim Kirchherr <br />and discussed ways to show appreciation for former participants’ contributions. <br /> <br />Mr. Friedman inquired about the conflict of interest policy. Ms. Lay reported that Petree <br />Eastman, Assistant to the City Manager, was working on its development. <br /> <br />New Business <br />No report. <br />2 <br /> <br />
