<br />Minutes of the CALOP Meeting <br />nd <br />University City City Hall, 2 Floor Conference Room <br />Thursday, June 26, 2008 <br />6:00 PM <br /> <br />Commission members present: Ed Nickels, Eric Friedman, Mae Etta Weston, James Reeves, <br />Gladys Creer, Bob Wilcox, Karol Walters, Dennis Riggs, and City Councilmember L. Michael <br />Glickert. Commission members absent: Eleanor Mullin and Marla Roach. Also present: <br />Genise Lay and Jaime Leiendecker. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Mr. Nickels. <br /> <br />Ms. Walters informed the commission that she would be retiring from the school district. A <br />liaison to the CALOP commission had not been assigned as of yet. <br /> <br />Reading and Approval of Minutes <br />The commission reviewed minutes from May 22, 2008. A motion to approve the minutes <br />was made by Mr. Wilcox, seconded by Mr. Reeves, and approved. <br /> <br />Request for Additional Funding <br />The commission heard from Jaime Leiendecker, representative for Boyd Pickup. Mr. <br />Leiendecker requested additional funding in the amount of $7,500 for the project "A Sewer <br />Runs Through It" ($7,500 was previously allocated). Mr. Leiendecker explained that more <br />funds were needed to cover costs to shoot extra footage, rewrite the script, and editing. <br /> <br />After meeting with Mr. Leiendecker, the commission discussed his request. Mr. Nickels <br />relayed that the balance of funding for Lisa Anne Harness and Ed Martin was available since <br />their projects were canceled due to noncompliance of contract terms. A motion to approve <br />allocating $7,500 additional funds for "A Sewer Runs Through It" was made by Mr. <br />Friedman, seconded by Mr. Wilcox, and approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Friedman also requested that: <br />All materials, including print materials, contain the CALOP logo. <br />? <br /> <br />CALOP is notified of and given the opportunity to attend events associated with the <br />? <br /> <br />film. <br />Recognition is given to CALOP. <br />? <br /> <br /> <br />Treasurer's Report <br />The commission reviewed the financial report for the month ending May 31, 2008. Mr. <br />Friedman noted that $7,500 in additional funding would be granted to "A Sewer Runs <br />Through It": $6,250 would be allocated from prior year grants (per Mr. Nickels’ suggestion <br />(balance of Harness and Martin grants) and $1,250 would be appropriated from current <br />grants, leaving a balance of $1,750 unspent in the account for current grants. <br /> <br />Mr. Friedman reported that there were several accounts with excess funds remaining in <br />them. Mr. Friedman noted that a transfer of funds would be made from maintenance <br />contracts to accounting fees to cover accounting fees already incurred as well as those <br />anticipated at the end of fiscal year. <br /> <br />The commission discussed recent cable franchise funding activity, the source of CALOP's <br />revenue. Ms. Lay reported that CALOP received approximately $740 from AT&T, in <br />conjunction with funds sent quarterly by Charter Communications. Mr. Riggs reported that <br />HEC-TV had started working with AT&T. A motion was made by Mr. Friedman, seconded by <br />1 <br /> <br />
