Sculpture Series: The reception for this year’s Sculpture Series was help on Sunday, April 10 at City Hall
on the fifth floor. The Sculpture Series needs a new chair. Cheryl will distribute to Commissioners a
synopsis of the responsibilities of the Sculpture Series chair. The matter will be discussed at future
meetings.

Photo Show: Jane Brownstone reported that the awards were given to winning photographers on April 9
at the University City Public Library. Photos will be removed from the Library Gallery Friday, April 15,
from 6 to 8 pm. Volunteers were invited to assist. Some photos will be displayed at Commerce Bank and
at Royal Bank.

Returning Artist: Calla Smorodin reported. This year’s Returning Artist(s) program was a great success.
Rave reviews continue to come in. The photographer alumni, Dan Dreyfus, Dirk Fletcher, Matt Gainor,
Suzy Gorman, and Wiley Price, were wonderful. The program received a grant that enabled the purchase
of digital cameras by the city; the cameras will be stored at the high school for future use (which we hope
they receive!) Tony Taylor is interested in integrating photography into the schools’ art curriculum. Next
year, the commission hopes to invite a single artist again.

Old Business: Calla Smorodin reported on the wrap-up of the Returning Artist Series. Cheryl Thompson
announced that the Centennial Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month. All are
welcome to attend meetings and help on the Commission. The City’s purchase of art was briefly
discussed. It was decided to place it on next month’s agenda.

New Business: Because of construction at City Hall, the May meeting will be held in at a different
location. Some Commissions are beginning their meetings earlier than 7 pm. We have the option to
change our beginning time, if the Commissioners make this decision. A discussion of the Art Consortium
will be on the agenda for the next meeting.

After a motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
