Treasurer’s report: In the absence of Jean Markus, the commission did not receive a
treasurer’s report.

The councilmember’s report: In the absence of Francine Brungardt, Cheryl read the
group a summary of council activities which had been submitted by Francine prior to the
night’s meeting. The council has been focused on budgeting, planning, and economic
development. The pool in Heman Park is now open for the season. City Hall is
undergoing dusty renovations.

Photo Show: Jane Brownstone has compiled a folder of essential information for
organizing the photo show. The commission agrees that there is a need to define the term
“amateur.” The photo show participants should all be amateurs. Jane will consult with
Lisa and other photographers as to the most appropriate definition of the term. In any
case, assuring only amateur participation may be difficult. The commission likes the idea
of a special centennial category.

Concert Series: Cheryl passes a sign up sheet for concert workers; each commissioner
needs to work 3 or 4 concerts. The raffle is explained to new commissioners. Although
the first concert is on July 11, prizes still need to be secured. Commissioners should each
secure one prize. Bob Winters has completed the poster; it should soon be printed and
ready for distribution.

Old Business: Calla has completed a draft planning outline for the returning artists
program. The commissioners will review and return with comments. Calla is to begin
scheduling an artist for next year; she would like help from other commissioners.

New Business: No new business was brought before the commission.

After a motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kate Stein,
Secretary
