Community Center Sculpture
Cheryl reported that the artist who had formerly done the “Support” sculpture has
submitted a proposal to make this a permanent sculpture. It was noted that the artist
is now a professional and no longer a student so the price is considerable more than
expected. Thus, the commission stated they would like to study this for a couple of
months and see what alternatives they may have in raising the funds necessary for this
installation.

Old Business
Cheryl reported the Regional Art Commission has awarded the commission a $2,000
grant for next year. Cheryl will be submitting the final paperwork before the end of
June to receive payment in full for this years grant.

Cheryl gave out copies of postcards advertising the Public Art Curriculum Kit’s website.

Cheryl reported that the commission had received a letter from the U. City Education
Foundation thanking them for the commission’s donation of the blown glass for their
auction.

Cheryl reported that the pictures from Jay will be ordered in the next couple of weeks
and that he will drop them off at her office for pick up. The commission will be
receiving some checks from Jay for additional pictures that were sold at Compenere.
The commission will be issuing Jay a check to pay for the pictures that were being
ordered for the commissioners that retired from the commission in the last year, as
previously approved.

Cheryl reported that a $250 check had been received from Commerce Bank which was
to be earmarked for this years Photo Show that was held in April. She further stated
that the earlier donation form Commerce that had been received late last year was an
additional donation to the general funds.

Stefany Brot reported that the city is going to have an issue on the August ballot
concerning economic development programs. The proposition that will be put on the
ballot will be called “proposition U” and will be earmarked for such things as
infrastructure planning, with a matching grant from the federal government.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10p.m.
