Arts & Letters Meeting July 11, 2006 At Centennial Commons The meeting was called to order at 7:50p.m. by President Calla Smorodin. Those present were: Barbara Santoro, Marilyn Cathcart, JoAnne Zach, Phyllis Weber, and Leland Barber. Excused: Lisa Mandel, Traci Moore-clay, Emily Kelly, and Robert Bernstein. Absent: Adelia Parker- Castro Others present: Stefany Brot, Council Liaison, and Cheryl Thompson, Staff Liaison. Approval of June Minutes: A motion was made by Ms. Santoro that the minutes be approved as written to include spelling corrections. The motion was seconded by Mr. Barber. The motion carried. Treasurer’s Report: Lisa Mandel is out of town so when she gets back Cheryl will ask her to do a June report and a Fiscal Year Report. Council Liaison’s Report: Ms. Brot reported that the city will be hosting a primary election in August. She reviewed the various issues that will be on the August ballot which will include Proposition “U” for a ¼ of one cent sales tax increase to be used for infrastructure improvements. Mr. Ollendorff city managers last council meeting was last night. Ms. Brot reported that Ms. th Brungardt has officially resigned effective July 11. Now the city council has sixty days to reappoint someone to this position. The budget has been balanced and approved for FY 06-07. Concerts: Cheryl reported that last night was the first concert and there was a very good turn out. A revised concert workers schedule will be re-sent this week so that everyone knows which spots are still available. Cheryl reminded everyone that if we do not get enough prizes we will possibly have to go and purchase a few at the end of the season. Cheryl reported that she had sent an e-mail to Michelle from Big V’s to ask for a donation. There was also a small segment on the channel four news last night highlighting the concerts and that Cheryl had taped it and that it could be viewed at the conclusion of this evenings meeting.
