Sculpture Show
Robert reported that the Sculpture Show and reception were successful. Ron
was not able to come to the reception but Denise Ward Brown came in his place
and spoke. The Commission then discussed the recent publicity over the
Sculpture Show included front page coverage of Glitterous in the RFT. The
Commission then discussed problems that arose with the police. The student
performing Public/Private was forced to leave his exhibit in order to obtain his ID
and signatures verifying approval of his exhibit. The police also removed the
Verbal Abuse signs which Tom had replace by himself. The Commission agreed
that we would keep on top of the police next year leading up to the installation on
the artwork. Robert then announced that the Commission failed to hand out the
Darwin Portman Best in Show Award for a second year in a row. The
Commission agreed that we will present the award next year. Tom suggested
that if we wait a week between installation and the reception, it will give the
Commission more time to view the works and decide on a recipient for the
award. Adelia noted that she spoke with Ron and he felt that invitations arrived
too late this year and he suggested holding the reception at City Hall rather then
Centennial Commons.

Returning Artist
Calla presented a handout detailing the Returning Artist budget. Calla noted that
she needed to get together with Lisa concerning reimbursements. Lisa brought
the checks with her and gave them to Calla. Lisa requested clarification on the
location of the Darwin Portman fund. Calla noted that it is in the same account
as our checking, we just keep a separate running tally of the amount. Calla
pointed out that we had $525 left over from the Returning Artist Series and
moved that we put $300 back into the Darwin Portman Fund. Lisa suggested
waiting until all reimbursements were handed in to her. Calla said that Lisa had
received all reimbursement requests. With that, all agreed to put $300 back into
the Portman fund with a carry-over next year of $225.

Photo Show
Barbara announced that we received $1040 in fees and that we were close to
breaking even. Barbara noted that she received good feedback but she feels
badly that a judge who remained to address the audience was bombarded with
questions from disappointed parents. Barbara felt the judge handled herself very
well. Lisa suggested we add questions to the brochures next year that will
indicate where entrants picked up their brochures. Barbara took care of that this
year by recording information when entrants dropped off their works. Barbara
feels we can cut down on brochures next year by using e-mail and posters and
she requested help from the Commission in contacting photo clubs next year. A
suggestion was made to move the Photo Show to fall and it was agreed that this
possibility will be considered.
