has applied for CALOP funding to make a film at University City High School. If the <br />rdth <br />project is funded, he will also spend March 3 and 4 here and plans to include high <br />school students in the film. <br /> <br />Sculpture Series <br />Robert Bernstein reported that the Sculpture Series reception will be April 6, 2008, 2 p.m. <br />at the Commons. There has been much discussion with Ron Fondaw as to dates and <br />location for the reception and the reviewing of proposed projects. City Hall was requested <br />by the Art Department; it was used previously as a site when other options were not <br />available. Because it is closed on Sundays, we must pay employees overtime wages in <br />order to hold the reception there and it is not available at the time that the proposals need <br />to be presented to the Commission. Robert and Tom McCarthy will determine the dates <br />for reviewing. <br /> <br />Photo Show <br />Barbara Santoro reported that the next Photo Show reception will be October 19, 2008, 2 <br />p.m. at the Commons. Because of other commitments and our decision to hold the Photo <br />Show in the fall, the library gallery is not available. Tom, Barbara Romero (Kutcher <br />Framing and former Commission member) and Julie Bianchi will review display space at <br />the Commons. There was discussion of calendar art: photos from 2007 show in 2008 <br />calendar, probably children’s artwork in 2009 calendar, future years to include photos <br />from future photo shows or other art. <br /> <br />Starlight Concerts <br />Tom reported that 2008 concerts will begin on June 29 and run for eight weeks again. <br />This years’ bands have indicated that they would like to be included again next year. <br />Other suggestions are welcome; one is for a revue concert involving several less-known <br />groups. There was some discussion of the possibilities for related entertainment at the <br />concerts next year. It was requested that Commissioners collect raffle prizes earlier for <br />next year. <br /> <br />Movies in the Park <br /> <br />Tom reported that Frontyard Features would like to screen movies for U. City. The <br />charge per movie is $450. FF will also provide a pre-showing of advertising film to <br />feature contributing local businesses, etc. There was some discussion of sites for showing <br />— <br />the movieslocal parks, school grounds, etc. Claire Hyman moved that we should <br />pursue the possibility of presenting Movies in the Park, Julie seconded, the motion <br />passed. Lisa G and Claire agreed to serve on this committee. <br /> <br />Old Business <br />No old business <br /> <br />New Business <br />Robert announced that he will not serve another term on the Commission when his <br />present term expires at the end of the year.
