<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Arts & Letters Commission Minutes <br />January 8, 2008 <br /> <br />Attending: Calla Smorodin Daniel Talonn <br /> Barbara Santoro <br /> Lisa Greening <br /> Adelia Parker Castro <br /> Julie Bianchi <br /> Jennifer Stokes <br /> Creda Stewart <br />Absent: Marilyn Cathcart <br /> Evelyn Hollowell <br />Guest: Monica McFee <br />Excused: Shirley LeFlore <br />Staff Liaison: Tom McCarthy <br />City Council <br /> Liaison: Stefany Brot <br />Call to Order: <br />Meeting was called to order by President, Calla Smorodin at 7:05 PM at the Centennial <br />Commons. <br />* She moved for approval of the nominating committee slate of officers: <br />President—Calla Smorodin <br />V-President—Barbara Santoro <br />Secretary—Creda Stewart <br />Treasurer—Lisa Greening <br />Commission approval <br />She confirmed that there are two future members of the Commission awaiting City action <br /> <br /> <br />She then announced the appointment of Daniel Talonn as the commissions new <br />Parliamentarian. <br /> <br /> <br />Follow by a break in the set agenda she asks to introduce our guest presenter, <br />Monica McFee, from the staff of the City of University City. <br /> <br />Monica McFee—Public Relations representative for University City <br /> <br /> <br />Ms McFee thanked the commission for their welcome and distributed information <br />that has been distributed for the upcoming 2008 Returning Artist. <br /> <br /> <br />She then shared with the Commission the importance of the City calendar and the <br />need to continue to produce this piece for the residence of University City. She <br />did recommend developing it with the University City Arts Association and these <br />alliances along with the Art Camp participants would develop the art for the <br />calendar. Tom McCarthy shared that this camp is well attended and would act as a <br />motivator to build a stronger relationship with the Regional Arts Council (RAC). <br /> <br />
