<br />Arts & Letters Commission Minutes <br />March 11, 2008 <br /> <br />Attending: <br /> Calla Smorodin <br />Kim Massingale-Chilton <br /> Barbara Santoro <br />Regina Raineri <br />Lisa Greening <br /> Adelia Parker Castro <br /> Julie Bianchi <br /> Jennifer Stokes <br /> Creda Stewart <br /> Daniel Talonn <br />Excused: Dan Martin <br /> Marilyn Cathcart <br />Absent: Evelyn Hollowell <br /> Claire Medol Hyman <br /> Shirley LeFlore <br /> <br />Staff Liaison: Tom McCarthy <br />City Council Liaison: Stefany Brot <br /> <br />Call to Order: <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:01 P.M. by President, Calla Smorodin, at the Centennial Commons, <br />located in University City. Calla ask that all committee reports be simple and short given that she wanted to <br />dedicate more of our meeting time to the “Sculpture In Public Places” review. <br /> <br />Approval of the January 2008 minutes Julie Bianchi the minutes were presented and approved as amended. <br /> <br />Treasurers Report: Lisa Greening <br />The treasurer’s report was presented. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report: Stefany Brot <br />The University City budget hearing is 4/14/08. Council member Brot urged that as many as possible attend and <br />be prepared to speak as to what the Arts & Letters Commission contributes to the community and why this is <br />important. <br /> <br />Stefany announced that this was her last meeting with the Arts & Letters Commission. <br />Calla thanked Stefany for her service and support on the Arts & Letters Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />Committee Reports: <br /> <br /> <br />Returning Artists—Calla Smorodin <br />Reported that school was closed because of snow the first day of the Returning Artists event; however, most <br />of the missed classes were able to be served the next day. <br />Comment—Stefany Brot—the film “12 minutes” was great and everyone should have an opportunity to <br />view. <br />A special thank you to Julie Bianchi for the great refreshments provided at the reception.
