Barbara confirmed that she had reviewed the process with Creda Stewart to develop a stronger PR
campaign. Focused on establishing the: “Save the Date” ad”in the Cityscape by August 15, 2008 as well as
“call for entries and the registration form” for the city’s website. Closing comments: we would like to alert
the schools before the end of the school year and we would like to e-mail prior .participants.

Reception will be held at the Centennial Commons on October 19, 2008

Movie in the Park—Jennifer Stokes
Dates: May 24, 2008; June 28, 2008; and July 26, 2008
We will locate the movies at 3 different parks in University City.
Currently we are trying to determine the movie line-up. Suggestions were shared and Calla thanked
everyone for the discussion and asked that members send suggestions to Jennifer.

We are considering the way to advertise to our targeted audience. The movies are free and we would like the
opportunity to reach the families of our community.

Starlight Concert Series 2008—Creda Stewart
We are currently finalizing the entertainment line-up the following are scheduled:
Velvet; Fanfare; Satin and Her Band; Boggie Chyld; Kim Massie; Raven Moon and Caribbean Jazz Project.
We are waiting to hear back from the UC Symphony regarding an opportunity.

We would like to schedule opening acts for at least half of the events.

Public Relations Plan includes:
After we know the line-up we will be able to get on the website
Design a poster
Develop the survey cards
Build support letters for the raffle prizes
Develop the Commons building welcome banner

It was suggested that we no longer print the small schedule cards, but the idea was not supported.

Sculpture In Public Places Series—Julie Sandys Bianchi
Julie made a few comments about the event: that the commission on January 28 & 29, 2008 had selected 7
projects and agreed to fund for installation. She then announced that a blue ribbon panel will meet prior to
the reception, on April 4, 2008 and judge the selections to determine the Darwin Portman award, which will
be presented at the reception.

A discussion followed in which Commissioners gave feedback about the selection process. The sculpture
committee will meet to formulate a proposal for possible amendments to the selection process. The
president, vice-president and Tom will be part of this meeting. The committee will report back to the full
commission.

New Business
Calla announced that Jen Jensen was currently categorizing the art at the school district. This could be a good
resource for us at the commission.

Barbara Santoro announced that the Photo Show would like to see a Community Art display during the concert
series this summer. We could invite artists to hang one piece at the Commons and invite families to view them.
