Mink, Post Dispatch Journalist; and Judith Newmark, Journalist are some of the <br />candidates for the residency. Tom asked about previous programs, talked about <br />maybe a ‘team’ of writers, Barb will make some calls to locate “literary” artist. <br />Shirley suggests we look at all areas of literary world to stimulate students. Lisa <br />suggests we contact Sanford Jaffe for a list of University City High School <br />graduates. Adelia and Call will begin contacting candidates. <br /> <br />Photo Show <br /> - Barbara Santoro, chairperson <br />Work has begun with Tom McCarthy for procuring Art from the Summer Arts <br />Camp participants. The Draft for submissions has been sent to the printers. Lisa <br />is sending it to the website. We are looking for judges. Lisa is sending <br />announcements to the schools. Tom reports that “art across the board” is in place <br />at this summer’s Arts Camp. <br /> <br />Starlight Concert Series <br />, chairperson <br />It rained, umbrellas went up, but no one left. Massey was great. Large crowd, no <br />one complained about 2 prizes being available. <br /> <br />Movie Series <br /> -, Jennifer Stokes, chairperson absent <br /> Tom reports that the movie was great; turn out great; a small technical problem <br />with gas, was corrected within 20 minutes. Flyers were passed out to all Elementary <br />schools in University City. “Jaws”, to be shown June 28. <br /> <br /> <br />Old and New Business: <br />Julie Bianchi placed and inquiry on the table after being approached by a City <br />Management member, the inquiry addressed the ‘role’ of the Arts and Letters <br />Commission. Calla suggests that a letter of invitation be sent to city management to <br />come to the Arts and Letters Commission meetings. Also a discussion with Terry Crow, <br />our City Council Representative for the Arts and Letters Commission, would also aide in <br />clarifying our role in city government. Calla also suggests that when opportunity arises, <br />we can encourage members of city management to work with the Arts and Letters <br />Commission (specifically regarding Art instillations). <br /> <br />Barbara Santoro moved to adjourn <br />Adelia Parker-Castro seconds the motion. <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned 8:30p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Adelia Parker-Castro <br /> <br />
