<br />ARTS AND LETTERS COMMISSION MINUTES – Nov. 11, 2008 <br /> <br />MEETING CALLED TO ORDER at 7:04 p.m. <br />by Calla Smorodin, President. <br />Those present as follows: <br />Commissioners present: Excused Absent: <br />Barbara Santoro Adelia Parker-Castro <br />Daniel Talonn Diane Davenport <br />Julie Bianchi Jennifer Stokes <br />Calla Smorodin Dan Martin <br />Marilyn Cathcart <br />Claire Hyman <br />Regina Raineri Absent: <br /> Shirley LeFlore <br />Others present: Evelyn Hollowell <br />Tom McCarthy, Liaison, City Kim Chilton <br />Terry Crow Liaison, City Council <br /> <br />October ’08 Meeting Minutes <br />Daniel moved to accept the minutes as written. <br />Lisa seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Treasurers Report – Lisa Greening <br />Lisa Greening discussed and the distributed financial statement for the previous month. <br />The statement does not include the $1,050.00 check for the purchase of the sculpture in <br />front of Centennial Commons. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Council Member’s report – Terry Crow <br /> <br /> <br />As of this meeting, FEMA has not designated MO for flood funding. <br /> <br /> <br />The budget bill for the new emergency broadcast system failed. <br /> <br />Movies in the Park series – Chairperson, Jennifer Stokes <br />All movies have been booked and will be printed in the 2009 calendar. <br /> <br />Returning Artist – Chairperson, Adelia Parker-Castro, Shirley LeFlore, Calla <br />Smorodin <br />Monday, January 26, 2009 through February 6 will be the dates for Erik Mink’s visit to U <br />City schools. A reception will be held for the public on February 8. Daphne Dorsey, U. <br />City School District, will handle press relations. Traci Moore-Clay, will design posters <br />and post-cards. <br /> <br />Sculpture Series – Julie Bianchi, Tom McCarthy <br />Eric with Washington University provided Tom with an outline that gives the student- <br />artists a guideline for the event. He also gave Tom an evaluation that shall be used by the <br />Commissioners when reviewing the artists’ work. There will be nine (9) students <br /> <br />
