The working sessions are limited to the senior high school <br />only; there will be no elementary or middle school presentations. <br /> <br /> <br />Poet, Carl Dennis, will be visiting all grade levels. <br /> <br /> <br />A PDF file of the post card will be emailed to all Commission members for <br />distribution to friends and family. <br /> <br /> <br />The PDF file will also be sent to local colleges and universities with journalism <br />programs. <br /> <br />Sculpture Series – Julie Bianchi, Tom McCarthy <br />Julie has written a description of the Arts & Letters roll in the series that will be used by <br />Tom for A & L “blue binder” update. No other updates on the series. <br /> <br />Photo Show – Chairperson - Barbara Santoro <br />The 2010 U City calendar may still have some adjustments / revisions. The <br />photographers that have been selected to have their work in the calendar will receive two <br />extra calendars. Dan Martin suggested adding a new category, “Twenty Years Old”?, <br />etc. The purpose is to have older photos in the show, not just current work. <br /> <br />Starlight Concert – Co-chairs, Tom McMarthy & Kim Chilton <br />No new information. <br /> <br />Movies in the Park series – Chairperson, Jennifer Stokes <br />Contract has been sent to the vendor. <br /> <br />Lions Gate 100 Year Anniversary – Dan Martin & Tom McMarthy <br /> <br /> <br />So far there are three potential sponsors for individual lions at $3,000 a piece <br />(includes assumed artist’s fees). The sponsors are Parkview Gardens, Commerce <br />Bank and Holy Communion Church. The Historical Society has yet to provide a <br />business plan for the event but still wants A & L to assist in artist selection. Dan <br />has not committed the Commission to anything other than consulting. As of this <br />date, the planned celebration is the weekend of September 12 & 13. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> <br /> <br />Lisa Greening prepared a color brochure draft of the A & L Commission’s <br />th <br />function. She will hand out the brochures to the City Council at the January 5 <br />meeting and discuss the benefits of our commission to U City. Several <br />Commission members have agreed to attend this meeting in support of the A & L <br />Commission. Note: Lisa, herself, prepared the brochure. This was not an <br />expense to the City. <br /> <br /> <br />Tom is updating the A & L Commission’s “blue binders” and will give Regina <br />and Diane one each when finished. The updates will include revised / updated <br />information on all programs, and information on new programs. <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br /> <br />Diane brought up the damage to the art structure in front of the Post Office. Tom <br />will investigate replacement / insurance of the piece. <br /> <br />
