<br />ARTS AND LETTERS COMMISSION MINUTES – September 8, 2009 <br />MEETING CALLED TO ORDER at 7:02 p.m. <br />by Barbara Santoro, President. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: <br />Kim Chilton Excused Absences: <br />Regina Raineri Jennifer Stokes <br />Trish Hayes <br />Barbara Santoro Absent: <br />Julie Bianchi Shirley LeFlore <br />Calla Smorodin Diane Davenport <br />Marilyn Cathcart <br />Claire Hyman Others Present: <br />Lisa Greening Terry Crow, City Counsel member <br />Adelia Parker-Castro Tom McCarthy, Liaison, City <br />Dan Martin <br /> <br />June ’09 Meeting Minutes <br />Julie moved for meeting minutes approval and was seconded by Adelia. Revisions from <br />review have been made. <br /> <br />Treasurers Report – Lisa Greening <br />Lisa Greening discussed the distributed financial statement for the previous month. She <br />will void the five, $50.00 checks from the sculpture series that were not picked up the <br />students. She will also revise the financial statement to reflect the correct number of days <br />in the months of June and July. <br /> <br />Councilmember’s Report – Terry Crow <br /> <br /> <br />AmerenUE will be turning off the streets in the Loop from September 14-24. The <br />Loop will be using their own decorative fixtures during this time and review the <br />cost savings. <br /> <br /> <br />U City will take part in a “rate case” with Ameren. <br /> <br /> <br />Rain water usage barrels are available for residential use. See either the U City <br />website or call Miss Hicks at 314-505-8567. There will be instructions for <br />installation and use. <br /> <br /> <br />The driving range is experiencing erosion problems and will have a retention <br />basin installed. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is funding this <br />project. <br /> <br /> <br />Proposition S did not pass at the last city election. <br /> <br /> <br />U City will receive $878,000 from the AT&T landline lawsuit. <br /> <br /> <br />Olivette -U City-I70 Task Force is looking for nominees. Nominations will be <br />accepted by your council member. This is a short term position. <br />th <br /> <br /> <br />On September 17 at 6:30, there will be a public forum regarding the city <br />finances. <br />th <br /> <br /> <br />U City in Bloom Garden Tour is Sunday, September 13. <br /> <br /> <br />$40,000 in extra police support for the Loop was paid by Washington University. <br /> <br />
