<br /> <br />Crime statistics are available at the Loops Special Business District Meeting, the <br />first Tuesday of every month. <br /> <br />Staff Liaison’s Report – Tom McCarthy <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Sculpture Series – Julie Bianchi, Tom McCarthy <br /> <br /> <br />Ron Fondaw, professor at Wash U will be the director of the next series. <br /> <br />Returning Artist – Chairperson, Adelia Parker-Castro, Shirley LeFlore, Calla <br />Smorodin, Diane Davenport <br /> <br /> <br />Adelia distributed a letter outlining the dates and preliminary agenda for the <br />upcoming visit. The letter addresses the demographics of the high school student <br />population and faculty as well. The high school principal, Mr. Blumenhorst, gave <br />Calla a daily and yearly school schedule to assist in further planning. <br /> <br />Photo Show – Chairperson - Barbara Santoro <br />ndrd <br /> <br /> <br />The Photo Show deadline for entries is October 2 & 3. A call for entries has <br />been posted on the Arts & Letters website. <br />th <br /> <br /> <br />The reception will be on Sunday, October 25. <br /> <br /> <br />The photo seminar lead by Lisa Mandel was a success. 10-12 attendees <br />participated and Lisa has expressed an interest in returning for another seminar. <br /> <br />Starlight Concert – Co-chairs, Tom McCarthy & Kim Chilton <br /> <br /> <br />There was a discussion on where to have the concerts next summer. It is likely to <br />be held on the south side of the park due to parking issues. <br /> <br /> <br />The concerts may start earlier, possibly 6:30. <br /> <br /> <br />We discussed adding more variety to the bands that play to make the crowd more <br />rd <br />diverse. Currently, the 3 ward has the largest attendance of the 3 wards in U <br />City. <br /> <br /> <br />It was suggested that we include the U City Summer Band for one night. <br /> <br /> <br />Satin will be playing at the Parkathon on Sept. 26, from 1-3pm. The Parks <br />Foundation, along with members of A & L will be selling raffle tickets. It was <br />agreed by the commission that the proceeds will benefit the Parks Foundation. <br />Tom will coordinate with the Foundation. <br /> <br /> <br />Bar-b-ques will be restricted to the outer edge of the seating area. Future concerts <br />will have a marked area. <br /> <br /> <br />It was suggested that we allow charitable organizations to sell food at the concerts <br />next summer. We are in agreement of this, however, that organization would <br />have to pay A & L a fee. <br /> <br /> <br />All commissioners are responsible for their concert night obligations. <br /> <br />Movies in the Park series – Chairperson, Jennifer Stokes <br /> <br /> <br />The last movie shown for the 2009 season had the greatest turn-out. <br /> <br /> <br />
