Parking Forsyth on Northmore. <br /> <br />Staff Liason – Tom McCarthy <br /> <br />1.Waiting for photos of the Commission and the Sculpture purchased by the Commission from <br />Adelia that were taken by her and Julies husband during the Sculpture Series reception. Tom <br />also ask for a motion regarding the plaque for the Commission’s purchase of “Rhythm <br />Section” by Emily _______________________. Dan Martin motioned that the plaque for <br />Emily’s sculpture be made of plastic resin for $150 rather than a bronze one for $400. <br />Seconed by Adelia Parker-Castro. <br /> <br />2.The Starlight Concert Series Poster redesign project was given to Claire Hyman and Marilyn <br />Cathcart. Barbara Santoro, president reminded the volunteers to note the beginning date on <br />the volunteer list. <br />Report after Clair moved and Marilyn’s second, report accepted. <br /> <br />Sculpture Series – Julie Biachi, Chair (excused) <br />Report provided by Tom McCarthy. <br /> <br />1.Opening reception – Great!!!! <br /> <br />2.“Standing Nude” – blew up in kiln, student sculptor working to recreate it, and install it at the <br />coffee shop. <br /> <br />3.“Animal Playground”, was vandalized – student sculptor will try to repair and replace it in <br />Heman park. <br /> <br />4.Julie wanted to discuss the possible purchase of “Animal Playground”. The location for <br />installation in question. This line of business was tabled as it is the concensus of <br />Commission that this purchase is not a wise way of spending. <br /> <br />5.The “Travelling Art Truck” was taken to the Regional Arts Commission. They praised the <br />students work and gave her ideas for further venues. This Friday and Saturday it will be at <br />the Tivoli Theatre’. <br />Returning Artist Series – Adelia Parker-Castro, Chair <br />Tracy Clay-Moore has been asked to take a look at her calendar to advise us of her availability for the 2009- <br />2010 Returning Artist. Diane Davenport suggests a collaboration with poetry, drama, Tracey moore, Peter <br />Martin and Sandy Shaw. Claire Hyman suggest storytelling, childrens books and LuRita <br />___________________. <br />There is also thoughts about a fund raiser, “Art in the Garden”. All ideas will be discussed at next Returning <br />Artist Series meeting. Barbara Santoro, President announced that Diane Davenport will be working with Adelia <br />on this committee. <br /> <br />Movies – Jennifer Stokes, Chair (excused) <br />Report provided by Tom McCarthy. <br />The first movie will be May 23, 2009, Heman Park 8:45p.m. - “Born Free”. <br /> <br />Tom McCarthy also reports that the Lions Events – Grants are being reviewed by the Regional Arts <br />Commission for this University City project. They have received 2 submissions. The deadline is__________. <br />So far, a stipend of $500 and $150 for materials has been received. 9 Lions have been paid for. <br /> <br />Old Business: <br /> <br />1.An external site that links to the University City in Bloom blog web site has been established <br />for the Arts and Letters Commission. Send text when we want to announce Arts and Letters <br />Events. Dan Martin to send information to each member for a “thumbs – up” for the site by <br />April 21, 2009. <br /> <br />2.Free “Art for All” throughout the summer to University City Community. Commission to <br />accept City wide submissions. Tom to look into display cases. Barbara to send oput call to <br />Commissioners for ideas. <br /> <br />
