Disposition of Minutes of July 26, 2005 <br />Motioned to accept minutes as written. <br /> <br />Motioned by: Mary Hart Seconded: James Sutton <br />Motion passed <br /> <br />2. Citizens’ comments on items not on Agenda <br />None <br /> <br />3. Council Liaison Report (Francine Brungardt) <br /> <br />? <br /> April Election Cycle – Mayoral seat, 3 Council seats (Wards 2,3 & 4) <br />? <br /> City Hall renovations continue <br />? <br /> Centennial Celebration <br />? <br /> Writing and updating tree ordinance <br />? <br /> Organizing infield review board <br /> <br />4. U-City Parks Foundation <br />Robert Wagner introduced Karen to the commission. Karen gave a presentation on the proposal <br />submitted by the foundation to the Norman J Stupp Foundation. Purpose of the grant is to <br />improve safety in our park, expand golf camps, ball baskets, bag stands and benches at our Golf <br />Course. Karen asked for a recommendation for the commission to support the proposal. Mary <br />Hart motioned to recommend support of the proposal submitted. Livingstone Sykes seconded, <br />vote unanimous. <br /> <br />5. Municipal Park Gant Application <br /> Ms. MacCartney gave an overview of the grant; she explained how it would help the <br />replacement of the Kaufman Park playground. <br />Motioned to approve grant application <br />Motion by: Mary Hart Seconded by: Evelyn Irving <br />Vote: Unanimous <br /> <br />6. Summer 2005 Pool Evaluation <br /> Ms. MacCartney gave a brief overview of the pool evaluation. She explained the staff <br />recommendation to eliminate the restrictions on daily fee use of the swimming pool for the <br />following reasons: <br />? <br /> <br />Pool attendance is way below pool capacity. <br />? <br /> <br />The fees for daily use are already enough of a deterrent to minimize any impact from <br />non-residents. <br />? <br /> <br />A membership to Centennial Commons includes the swimming pool and when we are <br />fully operational and it is unclear on whether a non-resident member is allowed to bring a <br />guest to the swimming pool. <br />? <br /> <br />It will be confusing to allow daily use (for a fee) of the gym/fitness and other indoor <br />amenities by non-residents but not for the pool. <br />? <br /> <br />The U-City Swim Club (Masters) has been using the Natatorium and Heman pool for <br />many years. It is unclear whether the policy on non-residents being accompanied by a <br /> <br />
