<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />March 28, 2006 <br />Centennial Commons <br /> <br />President James Sutton called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Jerry Fitch Nancy MacCartney, Director <br />James Sutton Francine Brungardt, Council Liaison <br />Charles Mosley <br />Doyle Mitchell <br />Mary Hart <br />Evelyn Irving <br /> <br />Absent: Livingstone Sykes, Carl Seltzer, Ted Smorodin <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from February 28, 2006 <br />Mr. Mosley motioned to approve minutes with grammatical corrections and the <br />addition under New Business: Evelyn Irving asked about free games at Centennial <br />Commons. Ms. Irving second; vote: unanimous <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />Elsie Glickert of 6712 Etzel – Suggested the Natatorium should not be closed during <br />school breaks and the School Board and the City Council meet regarding the city <br />taking over the natatorium. <br />Jen Jenson of 706 Pennsylvania – Stated the black top at Lewis Park (off Vassar) is in <br />bad shape. <br />Mike Miller of 1331 Purdue – Stated summer staff need proper training in supervision and <br />interaction with children. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br />Ms Brungardt reported: New City Manager has been hired and there will be a <br />reception on Thursday, April 6 at Centennial Commons from 6-8:30pm. She also <br />th <br />discussed the formation of a citizen commission being established for a proposed ¼ <br />cent sales tax to go on the ballot in August. She discussed the fact that Clemmons Park <br />was sold by mistake and that the decision has been reversed by council. <br /> <br />Fees & Early Bird <br />Ms. Hart recommended approval of the staff recommendation. Mr. Mitchell second <br />vote: unanimous. <br /> <br /> <br />Lap Swim <br />Public comments were received from Ethel Mariam, Elsie Glckert, Nancy Heffernan, <br />John Watson, Carol Rossel, and Mike Heffernan who were all opposed to having <br />additional swimmers during lap swim time. Jen Jenson was in favor of having all swim <br />club members having access. Bob Winter, President of the Swim Club spoke in favor of <br />some type of fee system which would make it easier for non-resident swim club <br />members to use the pool. <br /> <br /> <br />
