Individual Park Reports

Ruth Park Golf Course

– drinking fountain water line still needs to be repaired cups and water
are being provided. Comments made about kids and non-golfers on field suggest signs labeling
safe areas be posted so injuries are prevented. No sprinkler on driving range but it will be
maintained regularly per Nancy.

Millar

– Trash away from pavilions not being emptied so animals are dragging trash into park.

Rabe and Ackert

- no problems

Kaufman

– No problems.

Mona Terrace

- erosion at fence but park is in good condition despite flood. FEMA to pay for
erosion at fence if approved.

Mooney

- Bare dirt showing, mulch needed at playground.

Heman Park

- New sewers run for restrooms, top parking lot now has holes. Trash was found
overflowing and trash is ending up on courts and surrounding area, assumed it was due to a
tournament. Suggests larger cans at top of courts to prevent this. Bids in for restrooms funded by
Land and Water Conservation grant and they should be installed sometime in November.

Majeris and Metcalf

- no problems

Kingsland and Eastgate

- no report

Fogerty and Lewis

- no report

Old Business

None

New Business

Proposal made to improve community relations by acknowledging citizen comments with a card,
letter, email or phone call within one week, thanking them for concerns/comments and notifying
them if anything is forthcoming. Jerry Fitch volunteers to sit with Nancy to establish criteria and
compose form letter. Jerry Fitch is to be liaison for citizen comments with James Sutton
volunteering to assist. Items of concern that are to be addressed or discussed further can be put
on agenda for future meeting. No motion. Idea accepted, all in agreement.

Police should be at pool during first and last week of operation. Suggest Police presence to
possibly keep down occurrence of incidents.

Need for better way to control youth jumping fence on east side of pool where no guards are
posted.

Need for more/better staffing so all areas of pool can be utilized (i.e., slides) for duration of
season

Recruiting Lifeguards, maybe recruit older-“senior” guards

Replacing current indoor pool facility since school district owns current Natatorium and it is
outdated. Suggest “trial” run to see if enough interest.

Pool passes available for non-residents

Meeting adjourned at 8:22pm

Corrected 11/7/08rdr
