<br /> <br />playground. University City got the Land and Water Conservation fund grant for the Mooney Park <br />playground and it will be funded and completed in a two year time frame. Centennial Greenway will <br />hopefully be under construction this summer. Ms. MacCartney will be hiking the trail with Great Rivers <br />Greenway staff on 4/29/10. She reports the budget is ongoing and no one has received any direction <br />due to the newness of the mayor and new council members. She also reports that #8 hole at Ruth Park <br />has a pond now that is totally graded and filled. Questions were raised, discussed, and answered. There <br />was a question raised about the Mayor’s Courtesy passes which expire on April30th. Staff did not know <br />the status of these passes. There was a discussion and a motion was made by Karen Palmer <br />and seconded by Jerry Fitch that the president contact the mayor’s office regarding getting a <br />determination on this matter. Vote was taken with results of 6 votes in favor and two (2) abstentions. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br /> <br />Mr. Sweeney reported - Loose railing at Flynn has bee repaired by Ewald, No report on <br /> <br />Northmoor, and Lewis and Majerus are fine <br /> <br />Ms. Gaines-Beckwith reported Majerus Park gets used, No report on Eastgate. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Fitch reported Ruth Park pond looks great. I concern, on north side from #2-#3 the out of <br /> <br />bounds stakes are being consumed by the woods- either trim the wood line or move the stakes <br />up behind the #6 green. <br /> <br />Ms. Peoples- Had to leave early for emergency. <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Palmer reports leaves need to be removed from stairs fro safety reasons at Mooney, also <br /> <br />the mulch under the swings needs improvement. There is a dead tree on the hill behind the <br />playground near Colgate. <br /> <br />Ms. Dille reported there is a gap in the fence behind the score board; there are two (2) shopping <br /> <br />carts in low water bridge. It is MSD’s problem but we will get them out per Ms. MacCartney. <br />There is a tree on Vernon and Midland that may be dead, can forestry be contacted? There are <br />dead limbs hanging in the same are. The utility box on the walkway needs to be repaired and <br />the old softball field has dandelions. <br /> <br />Mr. Sykes reported Kaufman looks good. Mona Terrace has a fence that was removed on the <br /> <br />wide section of the walkway and there is one shopping cart in the River Des Peres. <br /> <br />Caryn St. Clair reported that she saw people at Rabe Park last week. Millar looks good, Ruth <br /> <br />Park Woods looks a bit sparse. <br /> <br />William Field reported Metcalf maintenance is great, it is very well kept but under utilized. <br /> <br />There are low laying places that are collecting water. Ackert has low usage but looks good. <br /> <br />Unfinished Business <br />Park Commission Packets will go back to being mailed USPS, instead of emailed due to complaints <br />regarding size and number of pages. <br /> <br />New Business <br />Next two (2) Park Commission meetings will be a two part tour of the parks in University City. Meeting <br />will begin at 6pm; all members will meet at Centennial Commons and proceed from there. <br />Ms. Dille’s sister has new neighbors that have received no new information on parks in University City. <br />She suggests that maybe we rethink how we market to new community members.
