<br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />March 23, 2010 <br />Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. <br /> <br />President Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />John Sweeney Nancy MacCartney, Director <br />William Field Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent <br />Karen Dille <br />Karen Palmer <br />Caryn St. Clair <br />Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith <br />Robert Wagner, Council Liaison <br /> <br />Excused: Jerry Fitch, Linda Peoples <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from February 23, 2010 <br />Ms. Palmer indicated she was present at this meeting and the “unexcused” absence in the <br />minutes should be corrected. Under new business, Ms. Palmer also indicated their being a need <br />to correct the statement – “Ms. Palmer states that maybe clarification of Parks Commission <br />mission is needed”. It was agreed by commission members the statement should read – “Ms. <br />Palmer states that maybe clarification of the Parks Commission mission is needed for Mr. Field”. <br />Ms. St. Clair moved approval of the minutes with the aforementioned corrections; Ms. Dille <br />seconded. All in agreement, the motion carried. <br /> <br />Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda <br />No citizens present. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br />Mr. Wagner reported: 1.) Melcine Henderson and Barbara Romero were nominated to the Arts <br />and Letters Commission, 2.) The application for designation of five homes on Kingsbury as the <br />Clifford Row Historic District was approved; these homes (located in the 6600 block of <br />Kingsbury) are among the oldest in University City, 3.) A conditional use permit was approved <br />for a new café and coffee roasting facility at 7201 Balson. It will replace Dave’s Precision Auto <br />Service (across from Heman Park at the corner of Balson/Midland), 4.) Questions were raised by <br />Council regarding the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Fees and Charges recommendations for <br />fiscal year 2010-11. Councilman Glickert expressed concern with the golf cart fees and <br />Councilman Price with the Centennial Commons fees. Council decided to postpone further <br />discussion until the next council meeting and asked that Ms. MacCartney be present to address <br />questions. Ms. MacCartney also interjected that Council also wants a financial prediction with <br />the implementation of the new proposed fees. <br />Page | 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
