Special Meeting of the Park Commission City of University City November 18, 2010 Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. President Livingston Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. Other members present were: William Field Nancy MacCartney, Director Jerry Fitch Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith Tom McCarthy, Asst. Recreation Superintendent Karen Palmer Linda Peoples (arrived at 7:39 pm) Caryn St. Clair John Sweeney Excused Absence: Karen Dille Absent: Lynn Ricci, Council Liaison Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda – None Non Resident Use of Heman Pool and Parks Picnic Pavilions Ms. MacCartney gave an overview of the memorandum outlining staff’s fee recommendations of twice the resident fee for nonresident use of both Heman Pool and picnic pavilions. Mr. Sweeney indicated the daily fees shown on the chart were inconsistent with the recommendation of twice the resident rates. Ms. Palmer questioned with the increase in nonresident swim pass fees; would we lose those nonresidents who have purchased passes previous seasons. Ms. St. Clair also questioned the doubling of the proposed nonresident fees and felt the amount would discourage nonresidents from purchasing. Ms. MacCartney recommended the current nonresident swim pass fee remain the same and the proposed nonresident combo pass increase by $25 over the current resident combo pass rate. Mr. Fitch departed at 7:41 pm.  After further discussion, Ms. Palmer moved to accept the Heman Pool nonresident daily fee structure as follows: $6 for youth and seniors and $7 for adults. Mr. Sweeney seconded. Vote taken: All approved – Motion passed.  Ms. St. Clair moved to accept the 10 visit discount guest card fee increase to $65; and to eliminate the policy requiring a nonresident to be accompanied by a resident to access Heman Park Swimming Pool. Mr. Sweeney seconded. Vote taken: All approved – Motion passed.
