e

e

~

Minutes - Plan Commission
Page 5
July 23, 1986

rezoning the Hanley site to "PR-O"- Planned Residential-Office District in
1985 was one indication of its planning priority for use of the property.
He favored recommendation for approval of the Application and Landmark
Standards as a further indication of the City's planning perspective. Ms.
Schuman stated that she wanted City Council to receive a clear indication
from the Plan Commission establishing its priorities for use of the
property.

After further discussion, Chairman Hamilton called for a vote on Mr.
McCauley's motion. The motion passed by a vote of 6-1.

Chairman Hamilton informed Dr. Dodge that the Plan Commission's vote would
not be the final action on the Application. He explained that at its next
meeting, the City Council would set the date for a public hearing on the
Application before its decision would be made.

SCHEDULING OF MEETINGS FOR REVIEW OF COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Mr. Goldman stated that before the meeting he had distributed a revised
Preface and the first draft of the City Government section of the
Comprehensive Plan. He suggested a schedule meetings for reviewing the Plan
after its final edition. The Plan could then be distributed to various
places for public review after which time the Plan Commission could call for
a Public Hearing on the document. He suggested that the hearing be
scheduled for September; the Plan Commission could then conduct further work
sessions incorporating some of the public's views into the final document.

Chairman Hamilton noted Commission members would probably prefer another
review of the document before the Public Hearing. Ms. Schuman agreed and
stated that a few meetings in August could help apprise Commission members
of any substantial changes before a hearing was held. A special work session
of the Plan Commission in order to review revised portions of the
Comprehensive Plan was scheduled for August 6 at 7:30 p.m.

OTHER BUSINESS

Chairman Hamilton asked if there was any other business of which Commission
members should be apprised. Sarah Elwood, Zoning Administrator, stated that
City Council had approved Conditional Use Permits for Mr. Ben Berger for a
parking lot at 6702 Vernon Avenue and for the Montessori School of the St.
James Lutheran Church at 1417 Anna Avenue. The City Council had also passed
an ordinance rezoning the property at 6501 Crest Avenue from "LC"-Limited
Commercial to "PA"-Public Activity. This property would be used for a
parking lot for the Mt. Gideon Baptist Church.

ADJOURNMENT

The meeting adjourned at 9:59 p.m.
