~

. .

City of University City Department of Planning and Development
6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-0770

DATE:

July 22, 1986

TO:

Plan Commission

FROM:

Al Goldman
Director of Planning

RE:

Extent of PR-O Zoning in the Vicinity
of McKnight Village Proposal

At the June 25, 1986 Plan Commission meeting, Ms. Schuman questioned a
statement attributed to Mr. David Smith of the McKnight Partnership as
reported in the May 28, 1986 minutes. He had stated that the Comprehensive
Plan recommended that the PR-O District be extended to Kingdel Avenue. This
is not accurate. The 1958 Plan does not mention this area.

A development proposal for Taylor-Wasserman Properties prepared by Samuel I.
Dardick and Associates in April, 1968 studied the area bounded by the
Innerbelt on the east, the city limits on the south, Delmar on the north,
and Kingdel on the west. This study recommended that the entire area
exclusive of the Montmartre and Attache' buildings be considered for
development under a staged development plan.

The staff concurs with the general concept of redeveloping the entire area
and has encouraged the current developers as well as previous developers to
consider a development plan for the entire area between the Innerbelt and
Kingdel.
