CITY MANAGER

Mr. Ollendorff presented Plan CommIssion members and members of the audience with a
scale model of a proposed permanent structure for the Market-in-the-Loop on Delmar
Boulevard. He stated that the Market was twelve years old thIs year and because of
its continued success, the City could support a private developer's proposal for a
permanent building enabling year-round Market presence on Delmar. Mr. Ollendorff
sought preliminary input by Plan Commission members; the fInal proposal would require
formal Plan Commission approval.

Mr. Ollendorff reviewed the permanent Market concept whIch included openable side
garage doors to facilitate merchandise and produce delivery, 25 percent more leasable
space, a translucent roof for natural light, heating, plumbing, electricity and
interior and exterior planting or landscaping. He indicated that a prIvate developer
had conceived of the idea presented and would go forward with the concept with some
City financial assistance: however, Market renovations would be basically a private
enterprise.
