<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PLAN COMMISSION <br /> <br />Minutes <br /> <br />August 26, 1987 <br /> <br />The City Plan Commission held its regular meeting in the Emergency Operations <br />Center of City Hall on Wednesday, August 26, 1987, convening at 7:32 p.m. <br />with Chairman Matthew P. McCauley presiding. <br /> <br />VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Matthew P. McCauley, Chairman <br />Canice T. Rice, Jr., Vice Chairman <br />Arnold J. Kendall <br />Melissa P. Kreishman <br />Stephen Marsh <br />Mary Schuman <br />Booker T. Washington <br /> <br />Council liaison: Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br /> <br />Staff present: Frank Ollendorff, City Manager; Al Goldman, Director of <br />Planning; and Sarah Elwood, Zoning Administrator. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Ms. Schuman moved that the minutes of the July 22, 1987, meeting be approved <br />as corrected. Mr. Marsh seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />APPLICATION FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 254. SHURGARD SELF-STORAGE. INC.. <br />PARKING OR STORAGE OF RECREATIONAL VEHICLES AT 8689 OLIVE BOULEVARD <br /> <br />Chairman McCauley informed those present that the Plan Commission had <br />scheduled a public hearing on an application for a Conditional Use Permit by <br />Shurgard Self-Storage, Inc. in order to allow parking or storage of <br />recreational vehicles in accordance with Section 34-35.4(9) of the Zoning <br />Code. Mr. Allen Wyttenbach, an architect with Parr & Associates of Bellevue, <br />Washington, was present to present Shurgard's proposal. Mr. Wyttenbach <br />reviewed Shurgard's site plan with Commission members. He stated that <br />Shurgard wished to set aside ten parking spaces in a fenced area for parking <br />or storage of recreational vehicles. These spaces would be rented or leased <br />to those wishing to park such vehicles, including boats and trailers, on <br />either a year-round or seasonal basis. He further stated that this <br />application for a Conditional Use Permit was part of Shurgard's proposed <br />renovation plan for the property; Shurgard had recently purchased the <br />self-storage business from Olive-Innerbelt Self-Storage, Inc. <br /> <br />Mr. Rice arrived at 7:35 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Schuman noted that the City Council had recently reviewed a Site Plan <br />Amendment for this same business property. Mr. Goldman replied that <br />Shurgard's Site Plan Amendment could not, by ordinance, include approval of <br />
