In both cases, the mechanical equipment <br />should be screened by a fence or landscaped screen. <br /> <br />After further discussion, Mr. Safe moved that the Plan Commission recommend <br />adoption of the following text amendment thereby amendina Section 34-24.4d <br />and 34-52.5b of the University City Zoning Code: <br /> <br />Section 34-24.4 Permitted obstructions in required yards. <br /> <br />d. In Side Yards: Overhanging eaves and gutters projectina into the yard <br />for a distance not to exceed two (2) inches per foot of side yard <br />actually provided, except however, in no event exceeding four (4) feet; <br />recreational and laundry dryina equipment; air-conditioning or cooling <br />equipment accessory only to existing structures when placed at a <br />distance from an adiacent structure on abutting property of not less <br />than twice the required side yard setback or twice the side yard width <br />which is consistent with the prevailing pattern of the block frontage on <br />which the lot is located. and the equipment is screened from view from <br />the right-of-way by a fence or densely planted landscaped screen; and <br />any fence or wall less than six (6) feet in heiaht above the natural <br />grade level, except as provided in Section 34-23 ("Visibility at <br />Intersections"). <br /> <br />Section 34-52.5 Bulk Regulations <br /> <br />b. Accessory structures and uses shall maintain the same side yard as is <br />required for the principal structure located on the zoning lot, except <br />that off-street parking; air-conditionina or coolina equipment accessory <br />only to existing structures when placed at a distance fro. an adjacent <br />structure on abutting property of not less than twice the required side <br />yard setback or twice the side yard width which is consistent with the <br />prevailina pattern of the block frontage on which the lot is located. <br />and the equipment is screened from view from the right-of-way by a fence <br />or densely planted landscaped screen; and fences, walls and hedges may <br />be located in required side yards. <br /> <br />The motion was seconded by Mr. Marsh and passed by a vote of 6-0. <br /> <br />REQUEST TO AMEND ZONING CODE SECTION 34-36.7. SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT <br /> <br />Chairman McCauley stated that the representatives of the Special Business <br />District had withdrawn from the agenda in order to await response by the <br />Police Chief with information requested by the Plannina Department on the <br />feasibility of the proposed ban on security bars on windows in the Retail <br />Commercial District. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 11:15 p.m. <br />
