.

.

August 26, 1992 Plan Commission Meeting Minutes Page 7

Mr. Hill stated that the proposal allows normal off-street truck parking only for those trucks
under 3 tons, under 61f2' in height, without self-contained camping units and no more than two
wheels per axle. In other words, it still prohibits the parking of large trucks. As before,
commercial trucks and vehicles of all size are still prohibited.

Mr. Kendall stated that he had concerns about the storage of "junk" in the truck beds. Mr. Hill
replied that the environmental department enforces such "junk" storage in truck beds just like
"junk" stored on the property. Ms. Schuman spoke about the "on-street" truck parking proposal
currently before City Council; she then explained the history of the truck parking controversy.
Ms. Ratner suggested that affected citizens could apply for variances to allow visible parking
of trucks in the driveway. She further stated that the proposed definitions contained unclear
phrases such as "sports vans" and "passenger buses"; the definitions should be re-worded for
clarity. Ms. Kreishman stated that the current and proposed definitions did not fully address all
issues involved. Mr. Safe stated that he felt the zoning code should be liberalized concerning
trucks. After further discussion, Mr. Foxworth moved that the matter be tabled until the
September meeting. The motion was seconded by Mr. Marsh and passed by a vote of 7 - O.

GENERAL REVISIONS TO THE ZONING CODE AND SUBDIVISIONS REGULATIONS

Ms. Kreishman stated that the Commission would consider the submitted proposals from firms
offering professional services for revision of the Zoning Code. After a brief discussion, Mr.
Safe moved that the matter be tabled until the September meeting. The motion was seconded
by Ms. Ratner and passed by a vote of 7 - O.

OTHER BUSINESS

Mr. Hill presented a sample of the Public Hearing Notice signs that will be displayed at the
subject properties and four closest intersections concerning conditional use permit public
hearings. The commission consented to the use of the signs.

Ms. Kreishman welcomed Mr. Thomas E. Kahn as the new member of the Plan Commission
and thanked him for his service to the community.

ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Safe moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Ms. Ratner and
carried by a vote of 7 - O. The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 p.m.

m-B-26.plc
