PLAN COMMISSION
Minutes
May 27, 1998
The Plan Commission held its regular meeting in the E.O.C. room located in the basement of
City Hall, 6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri on May 27, 1998. The meeting
commenced at 7:37 p.m. with Chairperson Solodar presiding.
Voting Members PresentVoting Members Absent
A. Chairperson Solodar said that at the end of page 7, it states, “Mr.
Walsh asked what was the purpose of requirement number ...” it is blank. Chairperson Solodar
stated that it should be number 5. Chairperson Solodar also stated that in the very last line, Mr.
Reed’s name is not capitalized. Chairperson Solodar said that the paragraph above, where it
states, “He feels that the negotiations with the school district are not be over...” the words “are
not be over” should be removed and replaced with “should be pursued further”. On page 10,
where it states, “The Commission voted 5 to 0 that the alternative conditions be presented to the
City Council...” makes it sound like the Commission voted to accept Shu Simon’s alternative list
of conditions. The Commission did not accept that and, instead, said that they wanted the
Commission’s conditions as stated in the February 25, 1998 minutes to go forward, and if the
City wanted to use Shu Simon’s alternate conditions in their place, then it would be alright. Ms.
Glassman moved for approval of the March 25, 1998 minutes as amended. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Reed and passed by a vote of 4 to 0 with all members voting “aye” (Mr. Price
was not present for this agenda item).
Public Hearing: Conditional Use Permit #344, non-retail (carry-out restaurant) ground
floor business facing Delmar in “CC” - Core Commercial District, 6677 Delmar
Chairperson Solodar announced that a public hearing was scheduled to consider an application
from William K. Saigh, d.b.a. The Gourmet Canning Factory, 900 S. Hanley, Clayton, MO
63105. The application asks for permission to allow the premises at 6677 Delmar to be operated
as a non-retail space (carry-out restaurant) ground floor commercial business facing Delmar in
the “CC” - Core Commercial District.
