Date: November 6, 2002

To: Members of the Traffic Commission

From: Mariela Tapia, Secretary of the Traffic Commission.

Re: November Traffic Commission Meeting

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Traffic Commission is Wednesday
CONFERENCE ROOM (Room 6) at the
November 13, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. in the
Second Floor of the City Hall building
. Attached is a copy of the agenda for the
meeting.

1.Stop Signs at Wild Plum.

Please see the attached Traffic Request Form submitted by Ruth Levy dated September

11, 2002. She is requestingStop Signs for eastbound Wild Plum at Wild Cherry,
eastbound Peach Tree at Wild Cherry, and eastbound Burr Oak at Wild Cherry. Also, she
is requesting stop signs for westbound Peach Tree at Wild Cherry. At these locations,
there are only Yield Signs for north and southbound Wild Cherry at Peach Tree (see
schematic attached).

She is concerned for children playing in the streets. She stated that cars ignore the Yield
Sign on Wild Cherry. She said that cars come at good speed off North and South to
Peach Tree and from Wild Plum and Burr Oak to Wild Cherry.

Is the recommendation of the Engineering Division, subject to the approval of the Public
Works Director, to post Yield Signs for eastbound Burr Oak and Wild Plum at Wild
Cherry Lane.

It is better to start with less restrictive signs. We have to avoid stopping and delaying
traffic when is not necessary. Since there are dead end streets, the residents are very
familiar with this area. According to the Police Department, there are no reported
accidents at the intersection of Peach Tree and Wild Cherry for the last three years.
Based on this, the Yield signs are not being ignored.

2.To Prohibit Parking on a Portion of Hayes Ave.

Please see the attached Traffic Request Form, dated September 30, 2002, submitted by
Gordon Webb, owner of FTS Delivery, Inc. He is requesting to prohibit parking on the
east and west sides of Hayes, from its intersection at Olive for 60 feet to the north.

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\agenda\2002\Agenda 11-13-02.doc
