Unless parking is prohibited, the narrowness of the street causes difficulty in
maneuvering the tractor/trailers traveling westbound on Olive, turning north onto Hayes.
He states that as a consequence, his corner fence has been destroyed a number of times.
See picture attached.

The Engineering Department recommends to prohibit parking on the east and west sides
of Hayes, from its intersection at Olive for 60 feet.

3.Blackberry Place

Please see the attached Traffic Request Form, dated October 15, 2002, submitted by
Jacquelyn Abernathy. She is requesting at least 6 speed bumps to cut down the speed and
help deter traffic on Blackberry Place. Besides, she is requesting more lights in the street
to deter lovers.

The Speed Bumps are not a solution anymore. They are hazardous for the Police and the
Fire Departments. Speeding should be controlled by the Police Department. About
lights to deter the lovers, she could call the police since having sex on public places is
against the law.

Please call Sandy Weinberg at 862-6767, ext. 260, and advise her if you will not be
attending the meeting.

Cc: Shelley Welsch, Council Liaison
Larry Lieberman, Council Member
Evelyn Shields-Benford, Director of Public Works
Lee Payne, Police Chief
Andrea Riganti, Planner

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\agenda\2002\Agenda 11-13-02.doc
