Re: October Traffic Commission Meeting The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Traffic Commission is Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. in the EOC meeting room in the basement of the City Hall Annex building. Attached is a copy of the agenda for the meeting. Please call Sandy Weinberg at 862-6767, ext. 260, and advise her if you will not be attending the meeting. AGENDA FOR THE MEETING 1.Additional set of Stop Signs for Kingsbury-Williams intersection. Please find attached Traffic Request Form submitted by Deborah Carlin, dated July 30, 2003. She is requesting an additional set of Stop Signs for Kingsbury-Williams intersection. She is concern about drivers racing on Kingsbury. She ask us to allow her to make an “in person presentation” on this issue. Review sketch and picture attached. There are existing Stop Signs on Williams at Kingsbury. The additional set will be for Kingsbury at Williams making a Four-Way stop intersection. Kingsbury Blvd. is closed to traffic at west (passing the intersection with Wellesley). Wellesley is closed to traffic at south (at intersection with Forest Park Parkway). There is a traffic signal at the intersection Kingsbury and Big Bend. A Three or Four-Way stop intersection may be justified by its accident pattern, volume of traffic and as an interim measure to control traffic while a signal is being installed at the intersection. Please check information about “When is it necessary to install a three or four-way stop?” from the guidebook “INTRODUCTION TO TRAFFIC PRACTICES” by Missouri Highway and Transportation Department. Review as well, article about “Speed” taken from the booklet “TAKING IT TO THE STREETS” by American Public Works Association. At this intersection, just one auto accident was reported on February, 10, 2000. No Police report was written. Is the recommendation of the Engineering Division to deny the request. 2.Stop Signs and Crosswalk for North and South at the limits with City of Clayton. Please find attached Traffic Request Form submitted by Susan Gelman, dated September 3, 2003. She is requesting Stop Signs and a crosswalk to be located on North & South at the limits with Clayton City.
