Page 2 - Agenda November 8, 2006 2.Request to make Mona Dr. a one way street from Glenside Pl. to Groby. Mr. Gillispie has requested that Mona Dr. from Glenside Pl. to Groby be made a one way street toward Groby. Mr. Gillispie states that since the completion of the Groby Rd. Bridge project that entering/exiting onto Mona has been more difficult and that the bridge design doesn’t allow enough room for two vehicles at the same time. The street is 20 foot wide which is more narrow then the majority of streets in University City, although it is wide enough for two lanes. Considering the low traffic volumes on Mona, we suggest striping the center of the street in order to guide the stopped vehicle on Mona to rest in a location that would allow more room for the turning vehicle off Groby. 3.Crosswalks at the intersection of Balson/Midland/Vernon. The installation of crosswalks at the intersection of Balson/Midland/Vernon has been requested. Currently there is no crosswalk at this four way stop. This intersection is very much used by pedestrians. This is not a typical intersection in that it is asymmetrical, and will need to be designed by the county because it lies within the County’s right of way. I have sent a request into St. Louis County to investigate this intersection for crosswalks. This matter is presented as a discussion item.
