Restrict parkinQ on one side of Northmoor Dr. between Asbury Ave and Manhattan
Ave.

Please find attached a traffic request submitted by Tobey Tung, resident at 7247 Northmoor
Dr, on September 18, 2008, requesting to restrict parking on one side of Northmoor Dr
between Asbury Ave and Manhattan Ave. This is to allow buses, ambulances and fire trucks
to travel on that portion of Northmoor Dr.

On her request, Ms. Tung stated that there is a concerned expressed by all the neighbors
that any emergency vehicle cannot get through when cars parked on both sides.

This same request was presented to the commission on the meeting held in June 13, 2007
and July 11, 2007 by Deputy Fire Chief Donald Miner, with the University City Fire
Department, requesting that the City prohibit parking on one side of Northmoor from Big
Bend west to city limits. The Sanitation Department has also mentioned that it is extremely
difficult for the trash trucks to navigate along Northmoor. Our Street Department stated that
it is difficult for snow plowing when cars are parked on both sides of the street.

These are the comments from last year meetings:

"Councilman Stefany Brot suggested making the street residential parking by permit
only, which would greatly reduce the number of cars parking on the street. The
residents did not seem to agree with this approach. There was a very long discussion
regarding this topic. Many residents along Northmoor stated that parking on one side
of the street only would increase speed on a street that is already used as a "cut-thru"
street. The residents were concerned with the fire departments request but said
making the street less safe on a daily basis does not help the residents. Several
residents stated that they do not have driveways and parking on the street is their only
option. The overall opinion of the residents was to limit parking in the bottle neck
areas to small cars only, by posting no suv or van parking signs. No bottle neck
areas were identified."

AGenda Traffic Commission MeetinG October 8, 2008

PaGe 1
