Due to lack of quorum, none of the issues from the <br />th <br />December 12 meeting were resolved, however they were discussed. <br /> <br />We recommend that you visit the sites to be discussed prior to the meeting. Please call 505- <br />8563 and confirm your attendance. <br /> <br />AGENDA FOR THE MEETING <br /> <br />1. School District Request to Establish two (2) Pick Up/Drop off zones for Jackson Park <br />School. <br /> <br />Erie Gonzalez-Rubio, Operations Supervisor from the School District of University City <br />attended the meeting in December 12, 2007. Mr. Gonzalez requested that: <br /> <br />1) A "No Parking - 15 minute - Pick up/ Drop Off Zone” be established on the south side of <br />Balson Avenue from the south west corner of Balson Ave and Jackson Ave for a distance of <br />approximately 150 feet to the west. The restricted times are from 7am to 4pm on School days <br />only. <br /> <br />2) A “pick up/drop off zone” be considered around the entire perimeter of the island at the <br />intersection of Balson and Jackson in front of University City High School and Jackson Park <br />School. <br /> <br />Mr. Gonzalez states that traffic concerns have existed at this location for several years <br />resulting in double-parking and considerable congestion during the arrival and dismissal of <br />students. <br /> <br />Public Works and the Police Department agree that there is considerable congestion in the <br />area during the arrival and dismissal of students. The city has taken measures such as <br />installing traffic control devices (i.e., stop signs, no parking signs) to ease the congestion in the <br />Jackson Park/University City High School area. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Agenda Traffic Commission Meeting January 9, 2008 Page <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
